Wiesenthal Centre Demands Brazilian Church Church Leaders to Take Firmest Measures Against Rio de Janeiro Pastor who Calls for a Latter Day Holocaust

June 22, 2020

BUENOS AIRES and PARIS - Pastor Tupirani da Hora Lores (pictured) pleaded to G-d during a religious service at his Pentecostal Church Jesus Christ Geracao, in Rio de Janeiro, to “Massacre the Jews... G-d, slay them with your sword, for they have left G-d and have left the nations.”

After a veiled defense of the Inquisition, regarding the Jews who 'falsified their conversions', Hora Lores continued his prayer: “G-d, what you have done in World War II, you must do again, this is what we ask for in our prayers to you: justice, justice, justice!”

"We call especially on the leaders of the growing Brazilian branch of the worldwide Evangelical movement - as a faithful friend of the Jewish people and the State of Israel - to take necessary action against a rogue member of its Pentecostal branch. Hora Lores' antisemitic campaign must be caught in the bud," argued the Centre's Director for International Relations, Dr. Shimon Samuels.

“Our Centre emphatically repudiates such incitement to another 'Holocaust', by a priest who abuses the name of G-d to instill hatred and discrimination. Tupirani is a recidivist, who on previous occasions received minor penalties. We rely on Brazil's religious and political leadership to ensure that such offenses are harshly treated,” concluded Director for Latin America, Dr. Ariel Gelblung.
