CENTRE SIMON WIESENTHAL - SIMON WIESENTHAL CENTRE E-mail: csweurope@compuserve.com Wiesenthal Centre to Danish Culture Minister: "Keep Anti-Moslem/Antisemitic Radio off Denmark's Airwaves Definitively" In a letter to Danish Culture Minister, Brian Mikkelsen, the Simon Wiesenthal Centre's Director for International Affairs, Dr Shimon Samuels, recalled having "on several occasions protested neo-Nazi radio broadcasts in Denmark." The Centre expressed satisfaction that "the Danish Radio and Television Board has now suspended, albeit for only three months, Radio Holger for 'encouraging hatred based on race, religion, nationality, gender, sexual preferences and disabilities.'" Samuels noted that "the station owner, Kaj Vilhelmsen, this time proposed that 'Moslems should be killed or kicked out...'" The letter emphasized that "as hate is indivisible, we stand with Moslem victims of racism as we would expect them to support the victims of antisemitism in Denmark and across Europe." The Centre urged the Danish government "to take the necessary measures to ensure that Radio Holger, and any successor, be removed from Danish airwaves definitively", adding that Vilhelmsen has stated that "if they close us, we will just create something else so that we can spread the message about 'Danish Denmark'".
