Wiesenthal Centre to Argentine Foreign Minister: “Check if Iranian INTERPOL Suspects in AMIA Bombing are Among 2,800 John Kerry 'Green Card' Holders”

The Simon Wiesenthal Centre marked the 18 July, 24th anniversary of the AMIA Buenos Aires Jewish Centre bombing - that left 85 dead and over 300 wounded - by a round-table at the British Parliament. The meeting’s objective was to examine the application of the pending INTERPOL "Red Notice" arrest warrants for the detention and extradition to Argentina of the Iranian perpetrators.

The Argentine Ambassador to the United Kingdom read a message from his Foreign Minister, Jorge Faurie, stating, “The Argentine Government is fully committed... to ensure that all those involved in the attack are brought before the Argentine courts.”

Articles in the Argentine press have revisited the secret codicil in the so-called "nuclear deal" with Iran, whereby at least 2,500 to 2,800 Iranian, Syrian and Iraqi officials received "Green Cards" for residence in the United States.

Then-Secretary of State, John Kerry, was reportedly tasked by President Obama to thereby reactivate the frozen Iranian assets in American banks, to be managed by these new American residents.

“One cannot forget the 2016, $400 million in cash, secret plane delivery to Tehran, the day Iran released four American prisoners, apparently a first payment of a $1.7 billion settlement,” recalled the Centre’s Director for International Relations, Dr. Shimon Samuels.

“We are now confident that if any of the five INTERPOL-sought Iranian suspects, who are still politically active, were to arrive in the U.K., they would be apprehended and an Argentine arrest warrant would result in their extradition,” added Samuels.

“We are not so sure, however, if one of these perpetrators were to enter the United States - unthinkably as a ‘Green Card’ holder - or even visit a relative or associate to a new American resident,” suggested the Centre’s Latin American Representative, Dr. Ariel Gelblung.

The Centre noted President Trump’s tweet: “Just out that the Obama Administration granted citizenship, during the terrible Iran deal negotiation, to 2,500 Iranians - including to Government officials...”

Samuels and Gelblung urged Foreign Minister Faurie to, “Work with the United States to check the ‘Green Card’ list and demand that the five perpetrators be placed on a Watch List as agents of terror.”

El Centro Simon Wiesenthal puso de relieve el pasado 18 de julio, día del 24° aniversario del atentado en Buenos Aires a la AMIA - que dejó 85 muertos y más de 300 heridos – con la realización de una mesa redonda en el Parlamento Británico. El objetivo de la reunión era examinar la posible aplicación de las alertas rojas de INTERPOL sobre las órdenes de detención aún pendientes, para asegurar la detención y extradición a la Argentina de los perpetradores iraníes.

El Embajador argentino en el Reino Unido leyó un mensaje de su Canciller, Jorge Faurie, afirmando que "el Gobierno argentino está totalmente comprometido ... para asegurar que todos los implicados en el atentado sean llevados ante los tribunales argentinos."

Artículos en la prensa argentina han revisado las adendas secreta en el así denominado "acuerdo nuclear" con Irán, por el cual al menos una cantidad de 2.500 a 2.800 funcionarios iraníes, sirios e iraquíes recibierían "Green Cards" de residencia en los Estados Unidos.

El entonces Secretario de Estado, John Kerry, habría recibido la orden del Presidente Obama, de reactivar los fondos iraníes congelados en bancos estadounidenses para ser administrados por estos nuevos residentes.

"Uno no puede olvidar que en el 2016, $ 400 millones de dólares en efectivo y en secreto fueron entregados a bordo de un avión con destino a Teherán, el mismo día en que Irán liberó a cuatro prisioneros estadounidenses, en lo que aparentemente fuera el primer pago de un acuerdo por $ 1.7 mil millones de dólares", recordó el Director de Relaciones Internacionales del Centro, Dr. Shimon Samuels.

"Ahora estamos seguros de que si alguno de los cinco sospechosos iraníes buscados por INTERPOL-, que aún están activos políticamente, arribaran al Reino Unido, sería aprehendido y una orden de detención Argentina daría lugar a su extradición", agregó Samuels.

"No estamos tan seguros, sin embargo, de que ocurriera lo mismo si uno de estos autores fuera a ingresar en los Estados Unidos – inconcebiblemente como titular de una ´Green Card' - o incluso si visitara a un pariente o cómplice como un nuevo residente estadounidense", sugirió el Representante Latinoamericana del Centro , Dr. Ariel Gelblung.

El Centro tomó nota del tweet del presidente Trump: "Sólo destaco que la Administración Obama otorgó la ciudadanía a 2.500 iraníes, incluyendo a funcionarios de ese Gobierno ... durante la terrible negociación del Acuerdo con Irán "

Samuels y Gelblung instan al Canciller Faurie a "trabajar con Estados Unidos para verificar la lista de 'Green Cards' y lograr que la misma incluya como terroristas a los cinco sospechosos de autoría del atentado."
