Wiesenthal Centre Open Letter to President of Chile

Mr. President,
 
On behalf of the Wiesenthal Centre’s over 400,000 worldwide membership, we express our deepest concern at the danger to Chile of the transplantation of the Middle East conflict to its shores.

Our mentor, Simon Wiesenthal, would say, “what starts with the Jews ends as a scourge for general society.” Antisemitism was a factor in the downfall of Venezuelan democracy. It must not gestate in Chile.

As host to the largest Palestinian community outside the Arab world, those institutions could have been a force for harmony with the Jewish community.

It is now apparent that radical spoilers have infiltrated its ranks, increasingly hostile to Chilean Jewry.

Manifestations of hatred have grown exponentially. In recent days this has become ever more worrying.

In particular, a delegation of Chilean Members of Parlament is developing an openly political agenda on the Middle East, generating a marked increase of antisemitism among public opinion through social networks. This is accompanied by a “fake news” exhibition campaign in public spaces aiming to delegitimize the State of Israel, reportedly, organized by Palestinian agitators.

They have turned to your predecessor, ex-President Michelle Bachelet, now United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, an organization that covers up the crimes of states, by trading votes, to focus disproportionately on the State of Israel.

Syria, Iran, Venezuela, China, etc.. are thus given a free pass for crimes against humanity.

Chile has likewise become a target for the antisemitic B.D.S. (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) campaign. Redolent of the Nazi campaign - “Buy Not from the Jew” - it is now applied to the Jewish State.

Mr. President, we call on you to take measures against the hatemongers. Urgent action is necessary to contain Jihadi elements who abuse Chilean democracy. We repeat, “What starts with the Jews never ends with them!”

En nombre de los más de 400,000 miembros en todo el mundo del Centro Wiesenthal, expresamos nuestra más profunda preocupación por el peligro de la importación del conflicto del Medio Oriente a Chile.
Nuestro mentor, Simon Wiesenthal, hubiera dicho: “lo que comienza con los judíos concluye siendo un flagelo para toda la sociedad”. El antisemitismo fue un factor en la debacle de la democracia venezolana. No debe gestarse en Chile.
Como anfitrión de la comunidad palestina más grande fuera del mundo árabe, sus instituciones podrían haber promovido la armonía con la comunidad judía.
Ahora es evidente que los elementos radicales han infiltrado sus puestos jerárquicos, cada vez más hostiles hacia los judíos chilenos.
Las manifestaciones de odio han crecido exponencialmente. En los últimos días esto se ha vuelto cada vez más preocupante.
En particular, una delegación de miembros del Parlamento chileno han desarrollado una abierta agenda política en el Medio Oriente, generando un marcado aumento del antisemitismo entre la opinión pública a través de las redes sociales. Esto se acompaña de una campaña de exhibición de "FAKE NEWS" en espacios públicos con el objetivo de deslegitimar al Estado de Israel, según informes, organizado por agitadores palestinos.
Han recurrido a su predecesora, la ex Presidenta Michelle Bachelet, actual Alta Comisionada de las Naciones Unidas para los Derechos Humanos, quien encubre los crímenes de los estados, que intercambian votos, para centrarse de manera desproporcionada en el Estado de Israel.
Siria, Irán, Venezuela, China, etc, reciben así un pase libre por crímenes de lesa humanidad.
Chile se ha convertido en un blanco para el movimiento antisemita B.D.S. (Boicot, Desinversiones, Sanciones), basado en  la campaña nazi "No Compre al judío", aplicándola ahora al Estado judío, discriminando las empresas de dicho origen.
Señor Presidente, le instamos a que tome medidas contra los instigadores de odio. Se necesita una acción urgente para contener a los elementos yihadistas que abusan de la democracia chilena. Repetimos: "¡Lo que comienza con los judíos nunca termina con ellos!"
