Call for Anti-Racist Solidarity to Contain Repetition of 2001 Jew-Hatred
Presentation by the Center's Chief Delegate, Dr. Shimon Samuels:
Mr. President,
"All hate must be considered indivisible and its victims must be defended collectively"
Durban 2001 was marked by incitement to hatred against Jews, thus dividing the anti-racist movement. Unfortunately, we now note the absence from the list of target groups, in the Brasilia Civil Society Declaration of the Americas, any explicit mention of Jews or, for that matter, of Muslims.
Therefore, in the spirit of solidarity, our Center urges the adoption of this call for solidarity against all forms of racism:
We the delegates of Civil Society, together with the representatives of the States participating in this Conference, declare solidarity with all victims of racism and oppose expressions of hatred from outside or within the anti-racist movement. These include incitement to hatred and violence, stereotyping, contempt, conspiracy theories, or the denial or banalization of the identity of any target group of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia or related intolerance. Conflicts within the world anti-racist movement serve only those racists and hatemongers who would target us all. Thank you, Mr. President. The Call was then endorsed in the speech of the Representative of Argentina, Flavio Rapisardi.
