Wiesenthal Center Urges Danish Prosecutors to Put Former Concentration Camp Guards on Trial

Jerusalem-The Simon Wiesenthal Center today called upon Danish prosecutors to bring to trial two Danish SS volunteers who served as guards at a notorious Nazi camp in Bobruisk, Belarus during World War II. In a statement issued here today by its chief Nazi-hunter Dr. Efraim Zuroff, the Center emphasized the important role played by Danish guards in the fact that only a few Jews sent to the Bobruisk camp survived the war. According to Zuroff: "Danish guards played a highly-significant role in the extremely high death rate at the camp in Bobruisk and bear criminal responsibility for the crimes committed there. The fact that so many years have passed since the murders took place in no way diminishes the guilt of the killers, and old age should not afford protection to those who committed such heinous crimes. We owe it to the victims to hold accountable those responsible for their untimely deaths."
