Wiesenthal Center To Deliver Compelling Protest from the Late Daniel Pearl’s Father at NY MET Opera Protest

September 22, 2014

WHO: Simon Wiesenthal Center to Join Protest Klinghoffer Opera at MET

WHEN: 4:30 PM

WHERE: The Metropolitan Opera Lincoln Center

Judea Pearl: "Choreographing an operatic drama around criminal pathology is not an artistic prerogative, but a blatant betrayal of public trust. We do not stage operas for rapists and child molesters, and we do not compose symphonies for penetrating the minds of ISIS executioners."

The Simon Wiesenthal Center will participate in today’s protest against the Metropolitan Opera’s decision to present an opera that humanize terrorist murderers and give voice to blatant anti-Semitism.

Rabbi Steven Burg, Eastern Director of the leading Jewish Human Rights NGO who participated in a meeting with MET director Peter Gelb, will speak at the demonstration against the MET’s decision to present a controversial Opera Klinghoffer, which critics, including the SWC charge uses blatant anti-Semitic rhetoric and humanizes terrorists. Rabbi Burg will also read a direct plea from Dr. Judea Pearl, father of the slain Wall Street Journalist, Daniel Pearl.
