Wiesenthal Center Outraged at Argentine All Boys Football Club's Anti-Semitic Behavior

Yesterday, at the All Boys Stadium, the local team fell to Atlanta, a team from Villa Crespo, a neighborhood in Buenos Aires, which was once densely populated by the Jewish community.

Since matches are played without a visiting public, All Boys supporters displayed Palestinian flags to provoke and began with anti-Semitic chants, forcing Atlanta players, directives and journalists to take refuge in the locker room until the police could guarantee them a safe exit. Even so, the fans attacked the police causing physical and material damage.

Dr. Shimon Samuels, Simon Wiesenthal Center´s Director for International Relations said, "All Boys ultras have turned to violence and anti-Semitism.” He also noted, “They [All Boys] had been hired by Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro. The Argentine Football Association must sanction the club for his anti-Semitic offense."

Dr. Ariel Gelblung, Center´s Representative for Latin America concluded: "It is increasingly evident that clubs, athletes and federations - in this case the AFA - must adopt the 11-Point Program against Racism, Discrimination and Xenophobia in Sport, developed by our institution, which has the auspices of the Organization of American States, the unanimous support of the Latin American Parliament (PARLATINO) and was declared by the City Council of Buenos Aires as Interest in Promotion and Defense from the human rights. El Centro Wiesenthal Manifiesta su Indignación por el Comportamiento Antisemita del Club de Fútbol All Boys

Buenos Aires, 22 de noviembre de 2018

En el día de ayer, en el estadio de All Boys, el local cayó ante Atlanta, equipo proveniente del barrio de Villa Crespo de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, que otrora fuera densamente poblado por la Comunidad Judía.

Dado que los partidos se juegan sin público visitante, los partidarios de All Boys exhibieron banderas palestinas para provocar y comenzaron con cánticos antisemitas, obligando a los jugadores de Atlanta y la comitiva de dirigentes y periodistas afines a refugiarse en el vestuario hasta que la policía pudo garantizarles la salida. Aun así, los hinchas arremetieron contra la policía ocasionando daños físicos y materiales.

El Director de Relaciones Internacionales del Centro Wiesenthal, Dr. Shimon Samuels sostuvo: “Los ultras de All Boys se han vuelto violentos y antisemitas”. Notó que “fueron contratados para un acto realizado por el dictador Venezuela Nicolás Maduro. La Asociación de Fútbol Argentino debe sancionar al club por la ofensa antisemita”.

Por su parte, el Dr. Ariel Gelblung, Representante del Centro para América Latina concluyó: “Cada vez es más evidente que los clubes, deportistas y federaciones –en este caso la AFA- deben adoptar el Programa de 11 Puntos contra el Racismo, la Discriminación y la Xenofobia en el Deporte elaborado por nuestra institución, que cuenta con el auspicio de la Organización de Estados Americanos, el apoyo unánime del Parlamento Latinoamericano (PARLATINO) y fuera declarado por la Legislatura de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires de Interés en la Promoción y Defensa de los Derechos Humanos. Nos ponemos a disposición de la AFA para poder generar una verdadera mejora en estos temas.”
