“INTERPOL wants Rezai in a courtroom, not in the Presidential Palace”

Simon Wiesenthal Center officials expressed outrage at the announcement by Mohsen Rezai, former Chief of the Iranian Revolutionary Pasdaran Guards, that he would run once again for President in his country’s 2013 elections. As a candidate in 2009, he obtained less than 2% of the vote.

“The world got Ahmadinejad, apeing Hitler in hate speech and genocidal discourse - on the other hand, Rezai is more of a Himmler, directly implicated in terror, wanted by Argentina for the AMIA Jewish Center bombing,” commented Dr. Shimon Samuels, Wiesenthal Center Director for International Relations.

“The fact that he can run again for President is further evidence that Iran is a sponsor of international terrorism, rewarding terrorists rather than complying with international law and Iran’s obligations to INTERPOL by delivering Rezai and his accomplices to justice,” stated Sergio Widder, the Center’s Director for Latin America.

“INTERPOL wants Rezai in a courtroom, not in the Presidential Palace,” they concluded.

Centro Wiesenthal manifiesta su indignación ante la candidatura a la presidencia de Irán de uno de los acusados por Argentina en la causa AMIA

“El lugar de Rezai debe ser la sala de un tribunal, no la residencia presidencial”

Directivos del Centro Simon Wiesenthal consideraron escandaloso el anuncio de Mohsen Rezai, exjefe de la Guardia Revolucionaria Iraní Pasdarán, acerca de su candidatura para las elecciones presidenciales que tendrán lugar en su país en 2013. Como candidato en 2009, Rezai obtuvo menos del 2% de los sufragios.

“En esa ocasión el mundo obtuvo a Ahmadinejad, quien imita a Hitler con su discurso de odio y sus incitaciones al genocidio. Por otra parte, Rezai es más parecido a un Himmler, implicado directamente en el terror y requerido por Argentina en relación con el ataque contra la AMIA”, señaló el Dr. Shimon Samuels, Director de Relaciones Internacionales del Centro Wiesenthal.

“El hecho que Rezai pueda presentarse nuevamente a la presidencia es otra evidencia de que Iran es un patrocinador del terrorismo internacional, que premia a los terroristas en lugar de ajustarse a la ley internacional y a sus obligaciones con INTERPOL, por las cuales debería entregar a Rezai y sus cómplices a la justicia”, agregó Sergio Widder, Director para América Latina del Centro.

“INTERPOL pretende que el lugar de Rezai sea la sala de un tribunal, no el palacio presidencial”, concluyeron los directivos del Centro.
