Wiesenthal Center: “Latin American Congress for Palestinian ‘Right of Return’ is Part of Global Campaign for the Destruction of the State of Israel

The Simon Wiesenthal Center denounced the Caracas, Venezuela, April 15-17 “Global Campaign To Return to Palestine”, as a demographic stratagem towards the dissolution of the Jewish State.

The meeting was attended by Latin American delegates from Argentina, Chile, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico and Venezuela.

The campaign promotes the return of a hostile Palestinian diaspora to the State of Israel to threaten its security from within.

Linda Sobeh Ali, Palestinian Ambassador in Caracas, said that “Venezuela is the focal point for the Palestinian cause in Latin America”. A Chilean delegate, Nicola Hadwa Shawan, added that “this is an international struggle against a common enemy, that same enemy that besieges Venezuela, that wants to seize the wealth of Venezuela, is the same that wants to seize the wealth of the Middle East and the rest of the world” (see http://www.telesurtv.net/english/news/Venezuela-Hosts-Congress-on-Palestinian-Right-of-Return-20150417-0005.html).

“Since the late Hugo Chavez, Caracas is the Latin American capital for jihadism and antisemitism. This continues with President Nicolas Maduro as a distraction from his disastrous economic policy. Moreover, the campaign for the Palestinian right of return takes no account of the over 800,000 despoiled Jews expelled from Arab countries. If the organizers sought peace, they would discuss mutual compensation for resettlement, as in all other wartime population exchanges, for example, between India and Pakistan, or Greece and Turkey… While Jewish refugees were absorbed in Israel, the Palestinians’ Arab hosts deliberately kept them as refugees for seven decades to perpetuate the conflict,” stated Dr. Shimon Samuels, Director for International Relations of the Wiesenthal Center.

“Shawan’s statements seem drawn from a speech delivered by Hugo Chavez in 2005, in which he said that ‘the descendants of the murderers of Christ have seized the wealth of the world”. Such language is incitement and puts Jewish communities in Latin America at risk. The invitation to Neturei Karta, a renegade Jewish group that rejects Israel’s existence, illustrates the hate level of the gathering”, added Sergio Widder, the Center’s Director for Latin America.

Centro Wiesenthal: “La convocatoria latinoamericana favor de la ‘Campaña Global para el Retorno a Palestina’ en Caracas es parte de una iniciativa para la destrucción del Estado de Israel”

El Centro Simon Wiesenthal denunció el encuentro de la “Campaña Global para el Retorno a Palestina”, que tuvo lugar en Caracas (Venezuela) entre los días 15 y 17 de abril, como una estratagema orientada a la disolución del Estado judío.

La reunión contó con la participación de delegados latinoamericanos de Argentina, Chile, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico y Venezuela.

La ‘Campaña’ promueve el retorno de una diáspora palestina hostil al territorio israelí para amenazar su seguridad desde dentro de sus fronteras.

La embajadora palestina en Caracas, Linda Sobeh Ali, manifestó que “Venezuela es el punto focal para la causa palestina en Latinoamérica”. Nicola Hadwa Shawan, delegado chileno, agregó que “hay una lucha internacional contra un enemigo común, el mismo que acosa a Venezuela, que quiere apoderarse de su riqueza, y es el mismo que quiere apoderarse de la riqueza de Medio Oriente y del resto del mundo” (ver http://www.telesurtv.net/english/news/Venezuela-Hosts-Congress-on-Palestinian-Right-of-Return-20150417-0005.html).

“Desde la presidencia del fallecido Hugo Chávez, Caracas es la capital del jihadismo y el antisemitismo en América Latina. Esto continúa con el presidente Nicolás Maduro, como una maniobra de distracción frente a su desastrosa política económica. Además, la campaña por el derecho al retorno palestino ignora a los más de 800.000 judíos que fueron despojados y expulsados de los países árabes. Si los organizadores procuraran la paz, discutirían compensaciones mutuas por los reasentamientos, tal como en cualquier otro intercambio de población durante un período de guerra; por ejemplo, entre India y Pakistán, o entre Grecia y Turquía… Mientras los refugiados judíos fueron absorbidos por Israel, los países árabes receptores de los palestinos los mantuvieron como refugiados a lo largo de siete décadas para perpetuar el conflicto”, señaló el Dr. Shimon Samuels, Director de Relaciones Internacionales del Centro Wiesenthal.

“Las palabras de Shawan parecen una copia de un discurso pronunciado en 2005 por Hugo Chávez, en el que sostenía que ‘los descendientes de los asesinos de Cristo se han apoderado de las riquezas de este mundo’. Es un lenguaje de incitación que pone en riesgo a las comunidades judías en Latinoamérica. La invitación a delegados de Neturei Karta, un grupo judío renegado que rechaza la existencia de Israel, ilustra acerca del nivel de odio de la reunión”, agregó Sergio Widder, Director para América Latina del Centro.
