Together with the Chilean Jewish Council, the Simon Wiesenthal Center presented the Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Profesional de Chile (ANFP – Chilean National Football Association) its draft directive, based on a Resolution of the European Parliament: “11 Points Against Racism in Football”.

The Center’s Director for Latin America, Sergio Widder, explained the initiative, and described the Center’s work in this field, launched by SWC Director for International Relations, Dr. Shimon Samuels, at the EURO 2012 in Warsaw with UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) and in Latin America with AFA (Argentine Football Association).

Alex Kiblisky, Treasurer of the ANFP and President of Ñublense Club welcomed the Center’s project as a racist incident had already occurred during his mandate. Oscar Fuentes Márquez, Executive Secretary of ANFP, noted their adoption of a Code of Ethics, consonant with FIFA’s regulations, adding that the Center’s “11 Points” could provide terms of reference in the Chilean context.

The Jewish Community leadership hoped to see other faith and ethnic communities join the initiative.

“It is gratifying that Chile ’s Football Federation now joins its Argentine and Brazilian counterparts in our Latin American regional project against racism in football. By the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, we believe that most of the hemisphere will sign on to implementing our ’11 Points’,” stated Samuels.

“It is very positive that Chile is joining us. Indeed, ANFP has added a new dimension, by stressing education and prevention,” added Widder.
