Wiesenthal Center Denounces Deadly Mosque Attack in Egypt - Urges President Trump to Take Action Against Pakistan for Release of Mumbai Massacre Mastermind

November 24, 2017

SWC joins with civilized people of all faiths in denouncing the murderous attack on Muslims in an El Arish Mosque during Friday services that left 235 dead and over 100 injured.

“Once again, fundamental norms of civilization have been decimated by mass murderers who targeted fellow Muslims at prayer," charged Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean and Director, Global Social Action of the Wiesenthal Center, a leading Jewish Human Rights NGO.

“In recent years, Christians in Egypt have repeatedly been targeted in their churches and Jews have been attacked in their synagogues in Jerusalem, Europe, and beyond.

“We can only prevail over Islamist terrorism, if religious leaders of all faiths, take the lead in openly and consistently denouncing mass murderers who invoke G-d’s name to justify their evil agenda.

"The Wiesenthal Center also urged President Trump to take action against Pakistan for releasing Hafiz Saeed, who is linked to the infamous Mumbai Massacre in 2008 that included the murders of the Chabad rabbi, his wife and four other Jews at the Chabad House.

“The US should sanction Pakistan. Once again it proves it is no friend of America and no ally in the global struggle against terror,” Rabbi Cooper concluded.
