Wiesenthal Center Condolences on the Passing of Nancy Reagan

The Simon Wiesenthal Center sends condolences to the family and friends of Nancy Reagan, former first lady who passed away this morning.

“Mrs. Reagan was a strong supporter of the Simon Wiesenthal Center over the years and responded with a kind letter of thanks when Rabbi Abraham Cooper and I wrote her with words of encouragement on the news of her breast cancer diagnosis in October 1977,” said Rabbi Marvin Hier, Dean and Founder of the Center. In 1988, on the occasion of Simon Wiesenthal's 80th birthday, Mrs. Reagan was the recipient of the Museum of Tolerance Award at a Wiesenthal Center Dinner honoring President Reagan with the Humanitarian of the Year Award in recognition of his friendship and staunch support of Israel, his efforts to prevent nuclear war, and his personal commitment on behalf of Soviet refuseniks.
