The Simon Wiesenthal Center, a leading human rights organization and NGO at the United Nations commended US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power (pictured at an earlier meeting with Rabbis Hier and Cooper), who led efforts to block a draft resolution setting a deadline for Palestinian Statehood and full Israeli withdrawal to indefensible pre-1967 borders. Rabbis Marvin Hier and Abraham Cooper, Founder and Dean Associate Dean of the Center said, “Ambassador Power was right when she declared in the UN Security Council: “This text addresses the concerns of only one side… We voted against it because we know what everyone here knows as well: Peace will come from hard choices and compromises that must come at the negotiating table.”
“The sooner the Palestinians and their supporters know that it cannot gain statehood without direct negotiations with the Jewish State, the brighter prospects for Middle East will become,” the Rabbis concluded.
