Wiesenthal Center Commends OAS General Secretariat for Designating Hamas as a “Terrorist Organization”

May 17, 2021

BUENOS AIRES and PARIS - The OAS stresses (see document below) the attacks on Hamas own population, abuse of children and women as human shields on the one hand, and the legitimate self-defense of Israel.

“We congratulate Secretary-General, Luis Almagro, for clarifying this to the OAS’ member-states whose foreign ministries which have take positions of ignorance or partiality”, said Dr. Ariel Gelblung Director of the Wiesenthal Center for Latin America

Dr. Shimon Samuels, Director for International Relations of the Center, added: concluded: “Almagro's statement follows the Wiesenthal Center’s meetings with the OAS Secretariat at the OAS Summit of the Americas in Lima, Peru and the General Assembly in Medellín, Colombia. We now appeal to the OAS to raise the same message to their European counterparts."
