Wiesenthal Center Commends Kerry, Power, Defense of Israel at UN; Supports Netanyahu's Warnings Against a Nuclear-Capable Iran

The Simon Wiesenthal Center commended US Secretary of State John Kerry’s statements at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHCR) where he castigated the UN agency's "obsessive allegations" against Israel.

Kerry said, in part, "... The UNHRC's obsession with Israel actually undermines the credibility of the entire organization,” adding, "We will oppose any effort by any group or participant in the UN system to arbitrarily and regularly delegitimize or isolate Israel."

At the AIPAC meeting in Washington, D.C., U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power declared, "These attacks on Israel's legitimacy are biased, they are ugly, and the United States of America will not rest until they stop."

"We welcome Secretary of State Kerry and Ambassador Power's strong defense of Israel. It is despicable that tyrants and dictators get a pass at the world's key human rights address while the democratic Jewish State of Israel is condemned without end.

The orchestrated global campaign poisoning attitudes against Israel, including Palestinian moves at the ICC, also threaten to cripple any hopes for peace in the Holy Land," said Rabbis Marvin Hier and Abraham Cooper, Founder and Dean and Associate Dean of the leading Jewish Human Rights NGO who are in Washington for Prime Minister Netanyahu's Iran speech to the joint houses of Congress.

"We came to Washington today to express our deep concerns of what a nuclear-capable Iran poses to the survival of the Jewish State and all other states with reach of the belligerent Mullahocracy,” Hier and Cooper concluded.

The Center is also releasing an original document from its archives from Israel’s founding Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion, in which he says, “An American leader in the future could say, after a failure, ‘I made a mistake.  I did not understand the real intention of the Arab leaders.’ We cannot afford to make mistakes on this decisive issue nor can we allow any power in the world to compel us to make fateful mistakes.” - see document here
