Wiesenthal Center Calls on OAS to Denounce Venezuelan National Radio Endorsement of Anti-Semitic Protocols of Zion

The Simon Wiesenthal Center called for the Organization of American States (OAS) to intervene against renewed State anti-Semitism in Venezuela.

In the Venezuelan National Radio program “La Noticia Final” (“The Latest News”), host Cristina Gonzalez praised quotes from the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

In a letter to OAS Secretary General, José Miguel Insulza, Dr. Shimon Samuels (Director for International Relations of the Wiesenthal Center) and Sergio WIdder (Director for Latin America), noted that “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion – a 1905 proven Russian forgery – still serves to spread conspiracies of Jewish plots for world domination. The Protocols underpin shifting anti-Semitic ideologies, from Hitler’s Mein Kampf to Hamas’ terrorist Charter.”

“This incident is yet another example of Venezuela’s State driven anti-Semitism. Caracas adapts to the Americas the Jew-hatred policy of its Iranian ally, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad,” stated Samuels.

“Venezuela’s anti-Semitic policy has already been condemned by the OAS in the 2009 Report of the Inter American Commission of Human Rights, on “Democracy and Human Rights in Venezuela.” This is the latest in a long list of similar incidents that have never been investigated, nor punished by the Venezuelan authorities,” added Widder (http://cidh.org/pdf%20files/VENEZUELA%202009%20ENG.pdf).

“The worsening situation not only endangers Venezuela’s Jews, it violates the delicate fabric of human rights in the Americas,” Samuels and Widder concluded.

El Centro Simon Wiesenthal reclama a la OEA que denuncie los elogios al panfleto antisemita “Los Protocolos de los Sabios de Sion” a través de Radio Nacional de Venezuela

El Centro Simon Wiesenthal solicitó la intervención de la Organización de los Estados Americanos (OEA) ante el renovado antisemitismo estatal en Venezuela.

Durante una emisión del programa “La Noticia Final”, a través de Radio Nacional de Venezuela, la periodista Cristina González citó de manera elogiosa fragmentos de los Protocolos de los Sabios de Sion.

En una carta al Secretario General de la OEA, José Miguel Insulza, el Dr. Shimon Samuels (Director de Relaciones Internacionales del Centro Wiesenthal) y Sergio Widder (Director para América Latina), destacaron que “los Protocolos de los Sabios de Sion, -un panfleto fabricado en 1905 en Rusia- aún sirven para difundir teorías conspirativas acerca supuestos planes judíos para dominar el mundo. Los Protocolos son el sustento para ideologías antisemitas, desde Mein Kampf, de Adolf Hitler, hasta la Carta Orgánica del grupo terrorista Hamas”.

“Este incidente constituye una muestra más del antisemitismo dirigido desde el estado venezolano. Caracas adapta para las Américas la política de odio contra los judíos de su aliado iraní, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad”, señaló Samuels.

“La política antisemita venezolana ya ha sido condenada por la OEA, a través del informe de la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos, “Democracia y Derechos Humanos en Venezuela”, en 2009. Este episodio es el más reciente de una extensa lista de incidentes similares que jamás fueron investigados ni sancionados por las autoridades venezolanas”, agregó Widder (http://www.cidh.org/pdf%20files/VENEZUELA.2009.ESP.pdf).

“El deterioro de esta situación no sólo pone en riesgo a la comunidad judía de Venezuela; deteriora el equilibrio de los derechos humanos en las Américas”, concluyeron Samuels y Widder.
