"We do not want a country where we have to demand justice"

Today, 23 years after the terrorist attack that destroyed the headquarters of the Buenos Aires Jewish center AMIA leaving 85 dead and more than 300 injured, the Wiesenthal Center marked its constant commitment to the cause through its Representative for Latin America, Dr. Ariel Gelblung, at the memorial ceremony in Tucumán, Argentina.

Together with the community Rabbi of Tucumán, Salomon Nussbaum, UNSTA (Catholic University) Professor Juan Carlos Hourcade,, Dr. Gelblung stated that for the Center "The investigation must end in the conviction of all those responsible, whoever they may be."

He concluded by saying that "We do not want a country where we have to demand justice. We want a country that before the 24th anniversary of the worst terrorist attack on this soil we can witness justice for the victims, honoring their lives and memory, their legacy and their absence."

In this regard, the Director of International Relations of the Wiesenthal Center, Dr. Shimon Samuels added: "Iran and Hezbollah left their fingerprints on this attack...'Justice delayed is justice denied' A generation of waiting is enough... The Wiesenthal Center, together with the Argentine authorities is studying alternative legal initiatives to pursue an elusive justice that demands constant pursuit".

EL CENTRO WIESENTHAL EN LOS ACTOS DEL 23 ANIVERSARIO DEL ATENTADO A AMIA

“No queremos un país en que tengamos que reunirnos para reclamar justicia”

Tucumán,

Al cumplirse hoy 23 años del atentado terrorista que destruyó la sede de la AMIA y dejó 85 muertos y más de 300 heridos, el Centro Wiesenthal dio muestra de su constante compromiso con la causa a través del discurso de su Representante para América Latina, Dr. Ariel Gelblung, en la Plaza Independencia de la Ciudad de Tucumán, Argentina.















Además de hablar el Rabino de la Comunidad de Tucumán, Salomón Nussbaum, el Profesor de la UNSTA (Universidad Católica) Juan Carlos Hourcade y un miembro de la juventud, el Dr. Gelblung manifestó que para el Centro “las pistas deben ser profundizadas hasta las últimas instancias y en el lugar donde estén. La causa debe ser llevada a su término con la condena de todos los responsables, sean estos quienes fueran”.

Concluyó sosteniendo que “No queremos un país en el que tengamos que reunirnos para reclamar justicia. Queremos un país en que antes de cumplir 24 años del peor atentado terrorista sufrido en este suelo podamos recordar a las víctimas, honrando su vida y su memoria, su legado y su ausencia.”

Al respecto, el Director de Relaciones Internacionales del Centro Wiesenthal, Dr. Shimon Samuels agregó: “Irán y Hezbollah dejaron sus huellas digitales en este atentado. Una justicia demorada no es negación de justicia. Haber esperado durante una generación es más que suficiente. El Centro Wiesenthal, junto con las autoridades argentinas está estudiando alternativas legales para alcanzar una justicia hasta ahora esquiva.”
