Wiesenthal Center: part of ongoing campaign to demonize Jewish people and dehumanize supporters of the Jewish state
As world leaders struggle to thwart Iran's drive for nuclear weaponry, a senior Iranian official unleashed a new anti-Semitic libel. Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi tied the worldwide scourge of drug traffic and addiction to Zionists and the Jewish Talmud. He unleashed the libel at a ceremony in Tehran marking International Day of Drug Abuse. Iranian wire services quote Rahimi as saying that the Talmud, “…teaches them how to destroy non-Jews so as to protect an embryo in the womb of a Jewish mother," adding that the Zionists' direct involvement in the prevalence of illicit drugs comes even when Rahimi alleges that "you cannot find a single addict among the Zionists". "Here is yet another example of the fact that anti-Semitism is a pillar of the Mullahocracy in Tehran," charged Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, adding, "on a day when nations are supposed to set aside their differences to combat illegal drugs, the Iranian regime continues to malign the Jewish people and its religious traditions — all part of their ongoing campaign of demonizing the Jewish people and dehumanizing supporters of the Jewish state. The notion that such a regime would be able to threaten Israel with nuclear weapons is intolerable," Cooper concluded.
