SIMON WIESENTHAL CENTER URGES UK TO CONDUCT FULL PROBE INTO RELEASE OF LOCKERBIE MASTERMIND

"Recall his ambassador from Tripoli until al-Megrabi is returned to jail or dies," says Wiesenthal Center Associate Dean, Rabbi Abraham Cooper.

Based on various media reports in the Times of London and other media outlets that call into question the diagnosis of terrorist Abdel Baset al-Megrahi, the convicted mastermind of the Pam Am Lockerbie bombing, the Simon Wiesenthal Center is urging the British government to conduct a full investigation into the matter.

"The UK owes the long-suffering families of the PAN AM 103 terror victims the truth about this outrage," said Rabbi Cooper, Associate Dean of the Wiesenthal Center. "If it turns out that the freed mass murderer/hero of the Libyan people is not on his death bed, Prime Minister Gordon Brown should lead the civilized world in recalling his ambassador from Tripoli in protest, and not return him until al-Megrabi is returned to jail or dies," he continued., "As for the business deals," concluded Cooper, “Not to worry. That well traveled road is easily re-connected too - just follow the stench of oil."

The Simon Wiesenthal Center is one of the largest international Jewish human rights organizations with over 400,000 member families in the United States. It is an NGO at international agencies including the United Nations, UNESCO, the OSCE, the OAS, the Council of Europe and the Latin American Parliament (Parlatino).
