SWC Urges Strong Legal Action Following Anti-Semitic Threat at Orly Airport in Paris

November 22, 2023

The Simon Wiesenthal Center unequivocally condemns the recent anti-Semitic threat made against a Jewish family by a taxi driver at Orly Airport, Paris. The family, arriving from Tel Aviv, was met with a death threat by the driver shouting “If I had taken you, I would have slit the throat of you, your wife, and your children” in French and Arabic.

“A serious criminal act reflective of a terrifying rise in anti-Semitism in France and globally. In 2023, France has witnessed 1,518 anti-Semitic incidents since October 7, significantly more than the previous year's total of 436. This escalation is unacceptable. We call upon French authorities to ensure justice is served to its fullest extent,” declared Rabbi Abraham Cooper, SWC Associate Dean and Global Social Action Director and Daniel Schuster, SWC Senior Representative Europe.
