Iran’s Offer to Cooperate in AMIA Investigation Mocks the Victims

The Simon Wiesenthal Center expressed outrage at Iran’s offer for a “constructive dialogue” with Argentina, ostensibly to assist the ongoing investigation into the AMIA atrocity which resulted in 85 dead and hundreds injured. Argentine Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman reacted with “optimism at this breakthrough.”

The Center was represented at the 17th commemoration ceremony by Dr. Shimon Samuels and Sergio Widder (respectively, Director for International Relations and Latin American Director).

“We expect President Cristina Kirchner to persist in her and her late husband, President Nestor Kirchner’s, unequivocal stand, from the podium of the United Nations General Assembly in September, in demanding the extradition of the 8 Iranian murderers,” stated Samuels.

“The prerequisite for an honest dialogue must be conditioned upon the extradition of the AMIA perpetrators to Argentine jurisdiction,” Samuels and Widder concluded.

La propuesta de Irán para “cooperar” en la causa AMIA es una nueva estafa a las víctimas y sus familiares

El Centro Simon Wiesenthal calificó como ultrajante la propuesta de Irán para “un diálogo constructivo” para, supuestamente, cooperar con la investigación del atentado contra la AMIA, que provocó la muerte de 85 personas y centenares de heridos. El Canciller argentino, Héctor Timerman, señaló su “optimismo” ante esta novedad.

El Centro estuvo representado por el Dr. Shimon Samuels y Sergio Widder (Director de Relaciones Internacionales y Director para América Latina, respectivamente) en la ceremonia de conmemoración del 17º aniversario del ataque terrorista.

“Esperamos que la presidenta Cristina Kirchner persista en la firme posición que han tenido tanto ella como su fallecido esposo, el expresidente Néstor Kirchner, durante la próxima Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas y vuelva a exigir, desde ese podio, la extradición de los 8 iraníes implicados”, señaló Samuels.

“La oferta de Irán equivale a los cantos de las sirenas de la mitología griega, que embrujaban a los marineros y los conducían al naufragio”, agregó Widder.

“El prerrequisito para un diálogo honesto debe ser la extradición de los responsables del ataque contra la AMIA a Argentina”, concluyeron Samuels y Widder.
