SWC Condemns Terror Attacks in Southern Israel; Urges UN Members to Vote against Unilateral Palestinian State

“Our hearts go out to the families of the seven people killed and dozens injured by today's murderous ambushes on Israeli civilians and soldiers near Eilat.

These attacks, which were reportedly launched from Gaza via Sinai, should be a wake up call to world leaders who continuously pressure the Jewish state to return to indefensible borders and to accept a two-state solution with the Palestinian Authority, whose president cannot even set foot in Hamas-controlled Gaza," said Rabbis Marvin Hier and Abraham Cooper dean and founder and associate dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, a leading Jewish Human Rights NGO.

Meanwhile, the Arab Spring has yielded a bonanza for terrorists in Gaza and the as Egypt opened its border with Hamastan and has been unable to control the Sinai from terrorist activities. Today's attacks, also underscore the dangerous folly that the unilateral declaration of a Palestinian state scheduled for the United Nations next month represents. Every nation that believes in secure borders for its own citizens should vote ‘no’ for a unilateral state based on the indefensible, pre-1967 borders," Wiesenthal Center officials concluded.

El Centro Simon Wiesenthal condena los ataques terroristas en el sur de Israel – Urge a los miembros de las Naciones Unidas a votar en contra de una resolución unilateral sobre el status palestino


“Nuestros corazones están junto a las familias de las siete personas asesinadas y las decenas de heridos por las emboscadas asesinas que tuvieron lugar hoy contra civiles y contra soldados israelíes en cercanías de Eilat. Estos ataques, lanzados desde Gaza a través del Sinai, deben ser un llamado de atención para los líderes del mundo que de manera permanente presionan al Estado judío para que retorne a sus fronteras indefendibles y a aceptar una solución de dos estados con la Autoridad Palestina, cuyo presidente no puede siquiera poner un pie en el territorio de Gaza, que controla Hamas”, señalaron los rabinos Marvin Hier y Abraham Cooper (Decano y Fundador, y Decano Adjunto, respectivamente, del Centro Simon Wiesenthal).

“Entretanto, la primavera árabe ha provocado una era de bonanza para los terroristas en Gaza, en tanto Egipto abrió sus fronteras con ‘Hamastan’, y no puede prevenir actividades terroristas desde el Sinaí. Los ataques de hoy también exponen el despropósito de una declaración unilateral sobre un estado palestino, cuya consideración está prevista el próximo mes en las Naciones Unidas. Cada nación que cree que debe contar con fronteras seguras para sus propios ciudadanos debe oponerse a un estado unilateral que tome como base las fronteras indefendibles de 1967”, concluyeron los directivos del Centro Wiesenthal.
