SWC Commends Proposed UN Transparency Act: "Would help US leverage massive financial support for UN to better serve human rights"
August 30, 2011
The Simon Wiesenthal Center commends House Committee Foreign Affairs Chairwoman
Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) for introducing HR. 2829.
“This trailblazing legislation, should it become law, would go a long way to help the United States to begin to leverage our massive financial support for the United Nations to better serve the cause of human rights. In addition, it would see to it that American taxpayers would no longer unwittingly underwrite the anti-Israel outrages at the UN Human Rights Council and debacles like Durban. We hope the bill will win the bipartisan support it deserves,” said Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean of the Center.
The Simon Wiesenthal Center is one of the largest international Jewish human rights organizations with over 400,000 member families in the United States.
