SWC Commends Hilton and Marriott Corporations for Barring Conferences – Many of Whose Participants Support Terrorist Hamas‘ Narratives & Actions

October 20, 2023

The Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) is commending Hilton and Marriott Corporations for barring two anti-Israel groups annual conferences, gatherings that would galvanize supporters against the Jewish state’s war on Hamas terrorists

CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) canceled plans to hold its 29th annual banquet on Saturday at the Marriott Crystal Gateway in Arlington VA, after the hotel reportedly received bomb and death threats.

CAIR was listed as #7 on the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Top Ten 2021 worst anti-Semitism list

In Houston, the Hilton Houston Post Oak by the Galleria, citing unspecified safety concerns, canceled a conference scheduled for Oct. 27-29 by the U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights.

In a letter to the CEO of Marriott International Anthony Capuano, the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s (SWC) Associate Dean and Director of Global Social Action, Rabbi Abraham Cooper, called on the global hotel corporation to cancel sponsoring the upcoming CAIR conference “which the Jewish community fears will further escalate tensions and potential conflict tied to the horrific mass murders of Jews by Hamas terrorists on October 7th, 2023.”

Rabbi Cooper added “CAIR describes itself as a civil rights organization but when it comes to Israel and her American Zionist supporters CAIR officials are either silent or outspoken in their hate.”
