The Simon Wiesenthal Center commends Queens Borough President Melinda Katz for insisting that the Queens Museum reverse its ill-advised cancellation of an agreement to host an event honoring the 1947 United Nations Resolution that created the State of Israel.
Mark Weitzman, the Wiesenthal Center’s Director of Government Affairs, and Michael Cohen, the Center's Eastern Regional Director stated, “Borough President Katz’s forthright intervention sends a strong message that Queens will not tolerate boycotts of Israel in public institutions funded by public money. We are glad that Borough President Katz has joined other elected officials in New York, including Governor Cuomo, who have firmly rejected the hypocritical and poisonous efforts of BDS proponents.”
Meanwhile, West Caldwell, NJ voted to adopt an anti-BDS resolution, the thirteenth (13th) such NJ municipality to do so. The grassroots effort has been spearheaded by Michael Cohen, who stated, “We are grateful for this vote and will pursue similar initiatives across the Tri-State area and beyond."
