SWC APPLAUDS FAILURE OF UNHRC TO ADOPT 'FATALLY FLAWED' GOLDSTONE GAZA REPORT

The Simon Wiesenthal Center applauded efforts by the United States and others to thwart the adoption by the United Nations Human Rights Council of the so-called Goldstone Gaza report. “Today’s move by the UNHRC to table this fatally flawed report is a welcomed step away from the abyss,” said Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean of the Wiesenthal Center.

“Its adoption could have paved the way for prosecution of Israelis for the crime of defending her civilian population from an unending barrage of 8,000+ rockets and would have further emboldened Hamas and other terror groups to continue to use their civilian populations and infrastructure as a shield against legitimate responses by a member state of the United Nations. We hope that this report will now find its way to garbage dump of history,” Cooper concluded.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center is one of the largest international Jewish human rights organizations with over 400,000 member families in the United States. It is an NGO at international agencies including the United Nations, UNESCO, the OSCE, the OAS, the Council of Europe and the Latin American Parliament (Parlatino).
