The Simon Wiesenthal Center condemned PA President Mahmoud Abbas’ use of a classic anti-Semitic canard when he accused Israeli Rabbis of urging the poisoning of the wells of Palestinians.
“Invoking a debunked and fraudulent canard that libels his Jewish neighbors at the podium of the European Parliament is proof that PA President Abbas has no interest in real peace with his Jewish neighbors,” senior officials of the leading Jewish Human Rights NGO charged.
“Invoking this lie of poisoning the well — in the capital of Europe where such medieval canards led to much Jewish suffering — was a calculated move that puts the PA President in the pantheon of anti-Semites,” Rabbi Marvin Hier and Abraham Cooper, Founder and Dean and Associate Dean of Wiesenthal Center added.
“Whatever his intentions were in knowingly repeating this outrage, Abbas has proven yet again what Israeli leaders from the Left to the Right have said — there is no chance of reaching a peace agreement with the current Palestinian leadership.”
“Instead of the standing ovation Abbas received from the EU lawmakers, they should have condemned Abbas’ anti-Semitic Big Lie,” SWC officials concluded.
