Simon Wiesenthal Center Statement on Devastating Earthquake in Morocco

September 11, 2023

Rabbi Marvin Hier, Founder and CEO of the Simon Wiesenthal Center and Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean and Global Social Action Director issued the following statement in regards to the loss of life and destruction caused by the earthquake in Morocco:

“Our hearts go out to the families of those who were struck down, injured and impacted by the devastating earthquake that struck Morocco.

In addition, the Jewish people, so much of whose history over a millennia took place in this country, joined with people the world over who have experienced Morocco’s living, breathing link to our collective past.”
