Simon Wiesenthal Center Urges Removal of Horrific Blood Libel Painting posted on Facebook; Urges Catholic Church to Denounce Spreading of Deadly Medieval Big Lie Against the Jewish People on Social Media

March 25, 2020

The Simon Wiesenthal Center is demanding that Facebook remove a horrific Blood Libel painting of a Jewish ritual murder posted by Giovanni Gasparro, a popular artist in Italy, on his Facebook page. CAMERA reported that title of the painting apparently produced by Gasparro is “The Martyrdom of Saint Simon of Trent, For Jewish Ritual Murder.”

“Now, on the eve of the Passover and Easter holidays, this Italian artist decides to promote the original, vicious, lurid, and long-debunked blood libel against the Jewish people through his art? We have contacted Facebook to demand that they not provide their powerful social media platform for a screed that has led to the killing and maiming of Jews for hundreds of years”, said Rabbi Abraham Cooper, SWC Associate Dean and the Director of Global Social Action Agenda.

“We further urge the Catholic Church to denounce Gasparro for this outrage. This isn’t art, its hate!” Rabbi Cooper concluded.
