SIMON WIESENTHAL CENTER TO HONOR AMY PASCAL, CO-CHAIRMAN OF SONY PICTURES ENTERTAINMENT AND CHAIRMAN OF SONY PICTURES ENTERTAINMENT MOTION PICTURE GROUP WITH ITS 2008 HUMANITARIAN AWARD
Medals of Valor to be awarded to former Indonesian President, the Archbishop of Canterbury emeritus and a Catholic cleric and activist
This year, at its annual National Tribute Dinner, the Simon Wiesenthal Center will present Amy Pascal, Co-Chairmen of Sony Pictures Entertainment and Chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group with its highest honor, the 2008 Humanitarian Award, for her commitment to cultural diversity, social responsibility and philanthropy. The Tribute Dinner will be held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, 9500 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 7:00 PM. Craig Ferguson will serve as Master of Ceremonies and the Humanitarian Award will be presented to Ms. Pascal by actor Will Smith. Dinner Chairmen are Jeffrey Katzenberg, Michael Lynton, Ron Meyer and Sir Howard Stringer.
The Wiesenthal Center will also present Medals of Valor to: former Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid, a leading voice for moderate Muslims and a champion of interfaith dialogue; Lord Carey of Clifton, the Archbishop of Canterbury emeritus for advancing the Anglican Church’s role in human rights advocacy; and Father Patrick Desbois, a Catholic priest who pursues justice for the over one million Jews killed in the Ukraine during WWII.
