Simon Wiesenthal Center Denounces World Leaders’ Continued Silence Over Iranian Threats to Annihilate Israel

April 1, 2015

Los Angeles, CA–  The Simon Wiesenthal Center urged President Obama, leaders of the European Union and Russia to publicly denounce Iranian threats to annihilate Israel.

“The world’s silence at the latest threat against the Jewish state by a leading Iranian Revolutionary Guard general is as dangerous as the pending deal that will give Tehran an open path to a nuclear bomb,” charged Rabbis Marvin Hier and Abraham Cooper, Dean and Founder and Associate Dean of the leading Jewish Human Rights organization. “These threats have been backed by the Iranian actions that are increasingly threatening Israel, including upgrading thousands of missiles deployed by their Hezbollah lackeys in Southern Lebanon and their taking control of areas in Syria adjacent to the Golan Heights with the goal of establishing a new front against the Jewish State.”

“Are our leaders so desperate for a nuclear deal with Iran that they remain silent in face of such hatred and threats? Where is President Obama, where is Chancellor Merkel, where is President Hollande, where is Prime Minister Cameron? Their failure to speak increases the dangers to Israel and further embolden Jew-haters the world over,” Wiesenthal Center officials concluded.
