Simon Wiesenthal Center Condemns Terrorist Murders of US Ambassador to Libya and Other Americans on Anniversary of 9/11

Urges Administration to 'take all necessary measures to hold accountable the terrorists who murdered our citizens and to secure our embassies'

The Simon Wiesenthal Center condemns the murder of four US diplomats, including our ambassador in Libya on the anniversary of 9/11. Rabbi Abraham Cooper, the Associate Dean of the Center, and Mark Weitzman, the Center’s Director of Government Affairs said, “We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the murdered diplomats who lost their lives in the service of the country they so faithfully served. All Americans honor their service and stand united in condemning their brutal murder by people who share the hate-filled worldview of Al Qaeda. The murder of Ambassador Stevens (pictured) has also deprived the Libyan people and nation of one of its best friends, a diplomat who was trying to help bolster the forces of freedom and democracy in Libya as it emerged from the tyranny of the Gaddafi regime.”

The Simon Wiesenthal Center trusts that our Administration will take all necessary measures to hold accountable the terrorists who murdered our citizens and to secure our embassies in Egypt and across the Arab world.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center is one of the largest international Jewish human rights organizations with over 400,000 member families in the United States. It is an NGO at international agencies including the United Nations, UNESCO, the OSCE, the OAS, the Council of Europe and the Latin American Parliament (Parlatino).
