Israel’s legitimacy under attack: Anti-Israel resolutions to be voted on by Presbyterian Church (USA)

On July 4th, the Presbyterian Church (USA) convenes its biennial General Assembly. In 2004, PCUSA was the first mainline Protestant denomination to pass a resolution calling for divestment from Israel. Since, then, anti-Israel activists have continued their efforts relentlessly.

But the membership of PCUSA also has some of the most committed pro-Israel stalwarts in the Christian world.

The 2010 resolutions against the Jewish state, include a call to the US government to ban aid to Israel, and libeling Israel as an 'apartheid' state.

The most dangerous, however, is the deeply flawed and biased report of the Middle East Study Committee, which , if adopted by PCUSA, will have profoundly negative impact on Interfaith Relations.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center was the first to sound the alarm back in January when we called this study a declaration of war against the State of Israel.

As in previous years, we will be there at the General Assembly, lobbying our fellow Americans and encouraging our friends.
