Is Chile's Palestinian Federation More Palestinian Than Chilean?

August 14, 2020

Buenos Aires and Paris – As the world celebrates the so-called “Abraham Peace Agreement,” whereby the United Arab Emirates and Israel established full diplomatic relations, the Palestinian Federation pursues, through the University of Chile, a rupture of academic relations with Israeli universities and persists in its malignant charges of 'apartheid' in the Jewish State.

“At a crossroads to choose between the path of peace based on mutual recognition or to continue its policy of violence, the Palestinian leadership does not hesitate to choose the latter. As the late Israeli diplomat, Abba Eban, argued, 'they never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity,'” stated Dr. Ariel Gelblung, Simon Wiesenthal Center`s Director for Latin America.

Dr. Shimon Samuels, Director for International Relations, added: “The Palestinian Federation of Chile, apparently prefers to follow its mentors in Ramallah and Gaza, against the tide of contemporarary history... They recall the mindset of an Imam at the World Social Forum in Porto Alegre, who argued that "if the Jewish State were to be moved to the other side of the Mediteranean, the war against the Jews would continue."

"We call on the Palestinian Federation to transplant 'the Abraham Peace march to Chilean soil rather than the path of conflict and, thereby add their voice to the course of history," concluded the Centre.
