Human Rights Group on Asian Attack In NYC: Hate Emanates From the Same Sewer – Denounce Racist Violence

March 31, 2021

The global Jewish human rights organization Simon Wiesenthal Center today released the following statement after an elderly Asian woman was violently attacked earlier this week in New York City amid an overall rise in Asian-American attacks nationwide.

“SWC, since the outbreak of Covid, has exposed and decried lurid anti-Asian and anti-Semitic online conspiracies and condemned violent hate targeting our Asian American neighbors. Such hate emanates from the same sewer. Racist violence must be denounced – whoever the victim, whoever the victimizer. Failure to do so spawns more hate and more violence, weakening America’s social fabric and equality.”

For further information contact the Center’s Communications department at pressinquiries@wiesenthal.com, join the Center on Facebook, or follow @simonwiesenthal for news updates sent directly to your Twitter feed.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center is one of the largest international Jewish human rights organizations with over 400,000 member families in the United States. It is an NGO at international agencies including the United Nations, UNESCO, the OSCE, the OAS, the Council of Europe and the Latin American Parliament (Parlatino).
