Government of Chile Commits to Wiesenthal Center to "Promote the Exercise of Religious Freedom and Inhibit Practices such as Anti-Semitism"

Buenos Aires Chile's Ambassador to Argentina, José Antonio Viera Gallo Q. received Dr. Ariel Gelblung, Simon Wiesenthal Center´s Latin American Representative, to transmit a letter from his Government ensuring the Center that it will not "not tolerate conduct that violates the dignity of people, nations and individuals." This was in reply to the extreme concern expressed by Drs. Shimon Samuels, the Center's Director for International Relations and Ariel Gelblung, forwarded to a letter to President Michelle Bachelet on 22 August, about the increasingly hostile anti-Israeli manifestations that endangered the Jewish community .
