As the Academy Awards® celebrated its 94th year earlier this week, the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Moriah Films is proud to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Genocide, the first documentary of the Holocaust to win an Academy Award®.

Genocide launched what became the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s film division, Moriah Films. Frank Sinatra, one of the earliest Simon Wiesenthal Center Board Members and supporters, was instrumental in introducing the Center to many luminaries in the entertainment industry, relationships that endure to this day.

Moriah’s films have been narrated by some of the most talented and distinguished names in the entertainment industry, many of them Academy Award®-winners: Elizabeth Taylor, Orson Welles, George Clooney, Sandra Bullock, Morgan Freeman, Michael Douglas, Nicole Kidman, Dustin Hoffman, Sir Ben Kingsley, Whoopi Goldberg, Anne Bancroft, Michael York, Sir Patrick Stewart, Kevin Costner, Martin Landau, Brooke Shields, Christoph Waltz, and others. The Simon Wiesenthal Center thanks these dedicated actors who have generously donated their talents for four decades.
