Gaza Cease Fire Does Not Quell Mid East Related Anti-Semitic Incitement in Argentina: Pro-Hamas Rally Claims Jewish Businessman “Stealing Money from the Poor for Transfer to Israel”

“Internet video ‘Alert! World Zionist Danger!’ threatens Argentine Jewish community” 

The Simon Wiesenthal Center has exposed incitement against Jewish businessmen in Argentina at a pro-Hamas demonstration in Buenos Aires, after the Gaza cease fire. 

In a video posted by “Resumen Latinoamericano” (Latin American Brief), prominent businessman Eduardo Elsztain - described as “the friend of [President] Cristina [Kirchner]” – was accused of “having stolen 180 million dollars from the poor in Argentina for investment in Israel”. Similar allegations were made against media businessman Sergio Szpolski, stressing his rabbinical studies as if they were a factor in the bankruptcy, over a decade ago, of his family owned bank –Banco Patricios- (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tlVmwNxUTE , 00:57).

“This case is a paradigm demonstrating how the Middle East conflict is exploited internationally as a pretext for incitement against diaspora Jewish communities. Glorification of terror, boycotts against Israel and classical hate rhetoric – here it is Jews and money – all come together”, stated Dr. Shimon Samuels, Director for International Relations of the Wiesenthal Center. 

“Just as Hamas uses Palestinian civilians as human shields, its Argentine disciples hide behind the Palestinian cause to foment antisemitism… Moreover, in describing Elsztain as ‘the friend of Cristina’, the demonstration has implicated the Argentine government in its claims. Our Center calls on the government to condemn these inflammatory attacks and to guarantee the safety of the Jewish community”, added Sergio Widder, the Center’s Director for Latin America.

The Center’s officials noted that these attacks are in the same vein as the threats to Argentine Jewry in the youtube.com video ‘Alert! World Zionist Danger!’, in which the host, Adrian Salbuchi, warns of “the problematics of Zionism and Judaism” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhQkVM4ExwQ).

Among other comments, he states that “Jewish communities have been persecuted throughout the  centuries (…) it seems like every people decides, at some point, to set limits to their activities or, in some disturbing cases, to expel them. (…) In brief: either most of humanity is suffering from a psychological pathology called antisemitism, or there is a social behavior among Zionist leadership and some representatives of Judaism that makes them subject to expulsion from the societies that had once hosted them”.

Salbuchi then revives the longtime pro-Nazi allegations of “a second Zionist State to be established in Argentine Patagonia”. He urges Argentine Jews to “disassociate” themselves from a list of so-called Zionist agent Jewish communal organizations, warning otherwise, that they should “not complain if there are reactions”. 

“Such threatening statements put the Jewish community at risk, and can degenerate into violence. Libels such as the ‘Andean Plan’ for the takeover of Patagonia are based on the antisemites’ Bible, ‘The Protocols of Zion’ – a Russian Tsarist forgery – to later become known as a ‘warrant for genocide’ against the Jews worldwide”, observed Samuels. 

“The ‘Andean Plan’ was drafted by Argentine far-right activist Walter Beveraggi Allende in the 1970’s and, since then, has been used to incite to hatred against Jews in Latin America. This is now picked up by Salbuchi. We will urge Youtube to take appropriate measures”, concluded Widder.

El cese del fuego en Gaza no apacigua la incitación antisemita en Argentina: manifestantes a favor de Hamas acusan a un empresario judío de “robar a los pobres para llevar el dinero a Israel”

“El video ‘¡Alerta! Peligro mundial sionista!’ que circula por Internet profiere amenazas contra la comunidad judía argentina”

El Centro Simon Wiesenthal alertó acerca de la incitación contra empresarios judíos en Argentina durante una manifestación callejera a favor de Hamas convocada en Buenos Aires luego del cese del fuego en Gaza.

En un video emitido por el sitio Resumen Latinoamericano, un manifestante acusa al empresario Eduardo Elsztain - a quien se describe como “el amigo de [la Presidenta] Cristina [Kirchner]” - de “invertir en Israel 180 millones de dólares robados a los pobres del país”. Luego se hace referencia también al empresario de medios Sergio Szpolski, destacando su condición de rabino como si ello hubiese tenido incidencia en la quiebra, hace más de una década, del Banco Patricios, perteneciente a familiares suyos (ver https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tlVmwNxUTE, a partir de 00:57).

“Este caso es un paradigma que demuestra de qué manera se explota el conflicto en Medio Oriente como un pretexto para incitar contra las comunidades judías de la diáspora. Reivindicación del terror, boicots contra Israel y lenguaje de odio clásico –aquí se trata de judíos y dinero-, todo se presenta encadenado”, destacó el Dr. Shimon Samuels, Director de Relaciones Internacionales del Centro Simon Wiesenthal.

“Así como Hamas utiliza a los civiles palestinos como escudos humanos, sus discípulos argentinos se escudan detrás de la causa palestina para fomentar el antisemitismo. Más aún, al describir a Elsztain como ‘el amigo de Cristina’, los manifestantes han implicado al gobierno argentino en sus reclamos. Nuestro Centro hace un llamamiento para que el gobierno condene estos ataques incendiarios y para que garantice la seguridad de la comunidad judía”, agregó Sergio Widder, Director para América Latina del Centro.

Los directivos del Centro destacaron que estas agresiones se encuentran en línea con las advertencias hacia la comunidad judía argentina proferidas en el video “¡Alerta! Peligro mundial sionista!”, en el que uno de los presentadores, Adrián Salbuchi, se refiere a “la problemática del sionismo y del judaísmo” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhQkVM4ExwQ).

Entre otros comentarios, sostiene que “las comunidades judías se han visto perseguidas a lo largo de los siglos (…) pareciera que todos los pueblos deciden en algún momento limitar su acción social o, en algunos casos terribles, expulsarlos. (…) Conclusión: o toda la humanidad padece una patología psicológica denominada antisemitismo o hay algo del comportamiento social, especialmente de los líderes del sionismo y de ciertos estamentos del judaísmo, que hace que sean sistemáticamente expulsados de las sociedades que los acogieron”.

Salbuchi luego alude a la tradicional acusación acerca de “la fundación de un segundo estado sionista en Argentina”. Finalmente, apeló a los judíos argentinos a “tomar distancia” de los pronunciamientos de instituciones judías locales, advirtiendo que “si vienen reacciones, no se quejen”.

“Este tipo de manifestaciones amenazantes ponen en riesgo a la comunidad judía y pueden degenerar en violencia. Libelos como el ‘Plan Andinia’ tienen su antecedente en la Biblia de los antisemitas, los ‘Protocolos de los Sabios de Sion’ – una falsificación de la Rusia zarista – que luego se convirtió en una ‘garantía para el genocidio’ contra los judíos en todo el mundo”, observó Samuels.

“El ‘Plan Andinia’ fue redactado por el militante ultraderechista argentino Walter Beveraggi Allende en los años 70’s y, desde entonces, se ha utilizado para incitar al odio contra los judíos en América Latina. Ahora lo retoma Salbuchi. Nos dirigiremos a Youtube para solicitar que evalúen tomar medidas apropiadas”, concluyó Widder.
