California Governor Signs Anti-Slavery and Human-Trafficking Bill into Law 

Since its inception, the Museum of Tolerance has made slavery and human trafficking one of its important causes and because of this commitment, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger used the Museum as the setting for a special bill-signing ceremony for SB-657, The California Transparency and Supply Chains Act, which requires major retail sellers and manufacturers doing business in California to disclose their voluntary efforts to eradicate slavery and human trafficking from its direct supply chain for tangible goods offered for sale.

The Governor was joined by Rabbi Marvin Hier, founder and dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center; CA Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg (D-Sacramento); The Alliance to Stop Slavery and End Trafficking Founder Julia Ormond; Kay Buck, Executive Director, Coalition to Abolish Slavery & Trafficking (C.A.S.T.); and Flor Molina, a survivor of human trafficking who is now a member of C.A.S.T.’s Survivor Advisory Caucus.
