California Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon and Bishop Juan Carlos Mendez recently joined Simon Wiesenthal Center Associate Dean, Rabbi Abraham Cooper, to open the Center’s "The Courage to Remember: The Holocaust 1933-1945" traveling exhibit at Centro Cristiano Bet-El Church in South Gate, CA. The exhibit, which has been displayed in over 16 countries over the past 20 years, offers amazing insight into the Holocaust, is being shown in wake of statements supporting the extreme racist and anti-Semitic views of Louis Farrakhan made by a local political candidate (see: https://bit.ly/2NQ6FdL). “Recent Anti-Zionist pronouncements that support avowed Anti- Semites like Minister Farrakhan do not belong in our public discourse, either in the political sphere or general society. These statements must not be condoned,” said Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center (pictured above right). “It shows that two decades after we first designed this exhibit, its lesson is still vital to building understanding and working towards peace at home and abroad.” Speaker Rendon (pictured right) and Bishop Mendez brought “The Courage to Remember”, presented by the Foundation for California and "'The Courage To Remember' empowers young and old to learn from history, confront bigotry and fight for justice. This exhibit is not a luxury, it is a necessity in all communities," said Dr. Alfred Balitzer, Chairman of the Foundation For California.
