Thompson Concert

A recent concert in Zagreb, headlined by rock group “Thompson”, brought immediate protests by the Simon Wiesenthal Center's Israel Director, Dr. Efraim Zuroff over the open display of World War II-era fascist symbols, banners and uniforms by fans. “Thompson” proudly promotes Croatian ultra-nationalism in their music, sometimes celebrating heroes of the Ustashe – the fascist party allied with Hitler during WWII – and ‘heroes’ of the 1991 Balkan War, some of whom are suspected war criminals.

Especially alarming was a song expressing nostalgia for Jasenovac and Stara Gradiska, death camps, where some 90,000 Serbs, Jews, Gypsies and anti-fascist Croatians perished at the hands of the Ustashe.
