The Simon Wiesenthal Center, a leading Jewish human rights agency, is urging the Egyptian government to cancel Horseman Without a Horse, a 30-part mini-series based on the debunked infamous Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion which is slated to air on Egyptian State Television during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

In a protest to Nabil Fahmy, the Egyptian Ambassador to Washington, Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean of the Wiesenthal Center, said, this series is only the latest in an ongoing campaign in the Arab world to not only vilify the State of Israel, but demonize Jews the world over through the strategic deployment of the Big Lie tactic. This includes the medieval Blood Libel, most recently validated by Syrias Defense Minister Tlas Matzah of Zion canard; the presentation of the horrific myth of the so-called Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion as historical truth; and most recently the canard that the 9/11 mass-murders were carried out by the US and/or Israel.

The protest, which was forwarded to Secretary of State Colin Powell and ranking Democrat and Republican members of the Senate Foreign Relations and House International Relations committees, went on to say that if the Egyptian government is truly committed to a peaceful future, it will take the necessary steps to staunch the torrent of hate which threatens to destroy any hopes of reconciliation among our peoples. We urgently ask you to convey to the government of Egypt our strongest protests over the upcoming scheduled broadcast of Horseman Without a Horse, and urge your government to cancel this mini-series of lies.

The antisemitic Protocols, originally written by agents of the Russian Tsar a century ago, has been called a warrant for genocide. Alleging a worldwide conspiracy of Jews to control the world, the book has been quoted by every antisemite in the 20th Century and remains a best-seller in the Arab world.
